Mother's Day - An Oldie but goodie

When Mags was small - I was not working- not creating much art at all. It drove me batty. So- I would draw what I knew- little black and white cartoons about motherhood.

Happy Mothers' Day to all! We deserve it!

How long on one illustration is long enough??

I'm not a fast painter. I'm a fast sketcher. Going to color- I'm a sloth.

3 months to do a whole book- sketch to final was TOUGH!

So more food for thought - when deciding on deadlines - both as the editor/art director and as the potential illustrator - consider how long it takes to paint each page.

In the best of situations I take 3 days each. Say 4 months would be fab- sounds reasonable I think. I had two weeks. I had to do two a day for this project and in my opinion it shows. Live and learn.

Every experience gets you somewhere. And even if I trip over my feet and fall on my face - I am still moving forward. Onward!
