Illustration Friday- "Skinny"
I did not do a sketch first- and that explains how messy this is- but it was fast and fun to doodle- w/ no lines. So unlike me. LIKE ME- on the other hand - is the image.
When you don't look like what is expected- BE unexpected.
I danced for 8 yrs. as a girl. I had girls tease me cause I was never SKINNY. - I just danced to my own tune- and moved on.

Nice style and very cute!
I like that girl with her hat the most :)
Perfect concept, Kelly! I love her confidence amongst all the other girls. Her willingness to be different is so nice! Thanks for sharing this! :)
You always did march to your own drummer, I bet. Kelly, this is wonderful!
this piece is so charming. i like it!
very cool! great style!
very nice!
I like this and it is a great way to handle the theme this week- heres to those who make the world more interesting because we do march to a different drummer.
Kelly, I'm pleased to see at my ballet studio that the kids are all shapes and sizes. The best high school girl in the ballet classes a few years ago was about three times as large as the rest of the girls, and she could dance circles around them. After graduating from college, she returned to the area and is now teaching jazz and ballet at the studio. One of the other really good dancers who graduated a couple of years ago was over 6 feet tall and not skinny. Very cool that not every studio is about the skinny girls.
Love your drawing!
Christine
Really nice choice of colors and the action in the illustration is realy well projected!
Loving this! She reminds me of my 5 year old niece.
Wonderful style, wonderful blog.
Ohhhh!! This is soo perfect Kelly! It's beautiful and organic and says so much. I think this is one of my favorite illustration of yours!
The talent is always evident on all of your work but this one has a heart behind it, you know what I mean? Make this baby a postcard and send it out there! ASAP!
